Ci led multiple fast-track renovation and expansion projects for Puritan Medical Products to support the urgent production of medical-grade foam-tipped swabs for COVID-19 testing. This included the rapid 12-week design of a 95,000 SF manufacturing facility in Pittsfield, Maine. The design team delivered drawings to the contractor daily to keep pace with the accelerated schedule. The new facility included ISO 7 cleanroom production space, quality control laboratories and supporting office spaces.

In Portland, Tennessee, Ci designed a complete renovation of an existing 414,441 SF pre-engineered storage and manufacturing building. The new design maximized the existing building to suit Puritan’s work and materials flow with an efficient layout between warehouse and manufacturing uses. Above the manufacturing area, the project team developed an equipment platform that allowed regular equipment maintenance activities to occur without interrupting the clean manufacturing space. These projects allowed Puritan to drastically scale up production, from about 20 million swabs per month pre-pandemic to over 90 million swabs per month post-pandemic.
